Bitter Pill Featured in Cotswolds Media and Talk Health Magazine!
I’m delighted to say that Bitter Pill is still getting media coverage.
Last month it appeared in Talk Health Magazine where readers could enter a competition and win a copy of my book. When I wrote Bitter Pill, it never entered my head, for one moment, that it could be a competition prize! I sincerely hope the prize is enjoyed!
On Remembrance Sunday, 10th November, Bitter Pill was featured in
Wilts & Gloucestershire Standard, Stroud News and Journal, and Gazette Series digital editions.
They displayed my photograph along with the cover of my book, so I can no longer hide behind my words!
There is an interview section about why I wrote Bitter Pill. I have posted below some of the content from one article:

Conflict between friends explored in dramatic new novel set in Cotswolds
A NEW novel set in the Cotswolds focuses on the consequences of fixed beliefs.
Author A J Linney is passionate about healing.
She is a trained nurse and homeopath, with this experience inspiring Bitter Pill.
She lives in Cornwall and is currently writing a non-fiction book, a memoir and a novel.
“I wanted to write a story about the consequences of fixed beliefs within the complexity of healing,” she said.
“The medical model treats symptoms and drugs play a significant role, whereas homeopathy investigates causation and treats the person holistically.
“I believe in nature’s medicines. In childhood, my mother used the humble dock leaf on nettle stings.
“This stirred something within me.
“Pharmaceutical companies patent some gifts of nature, which may be toxic.
“I wanted alternatives.”
Ms Linney said that while she was sceptical about homeopathy, she was ‘fascinated’ by the results of patient case studies.
“I experimented with simple first-aid remedies for my family, with amazing results,” she said.
“This prompted me to train as a homeopath.
“In both careers, I met opinionated individuals who opposed each system.
“However, I feel strongly that all systems play a role.
“All healing is good, surely? The result is what matters.”
Bitter Pill is published by Troubador Publishing and priced at £10.99.

I am thrilled that my book is out there gathering media interest. When I read the article, I noticed that its position was 19 out of 50 in the most read section!
Today, as I write this blog post, I am feeling blessed. Writing is a solitary journey and when the going gets tough, and my creative well is becoming dry, or I am exhausted by the editing process, or even worse, read an unpleasant review, I wonder at times why I write.
But … I am not a quitter!
It is easy to give up on the down days and listen to my negative internal monologues, but today is definitely a UP day! Being interviewed by two radio stations (one of which is aired in 100 countries), and to have been featured in periodicals this week, makes me proud.
It has only been twelve weeks since the publication of Bitter Pill and I have already received some wonderful messages, reviews, emails, etc, from readers telling me how Bitter Pill has moved them. Here are two of those comments and one review:
“Tonight I finished your book. It is fantastic. I have put reviews on Amazon and Good reads. Is there anywhere else I can sing your praises? You are truly amazing. I am in awe!”
“My friend recommended your book Bitter Pill to me and I can only say how right she was! I was so eager for the story to unfold, I devoured it in two days. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and can’t wait for your next one. Congratulations, you must be very proud!”
“Angela draws you into a web of intrigue with believable characters well researched. They get their claws into your emotions and tear at your heartstrings with their highs and lows. Prepare to abandon life as you know it until you reach the final page!”
Some readers have told me they want to learn more about homeopathy and natural alternatives, as the story piqued their interest on the subject. One reader told me how much one character moved him because she reminded him of his wife. He said the words in a single paragraph remained with him as they epitomised his wife, who cares for their son with Down syndrome.
If Bitter Pill can evoke such thoughts and powerful emotions — some readers have been reduced to tears — then it was worth every single hour, day, week, month and year I spent writing, editing and finally releasing it into the world!
